PRIDE AND PREJUDICE - 2011
As teaching artists, we offer a safe, creative, and inclusive environment in which actors of all ages and levels can explore the craft of theatre at their own pace and comfort level. The courses we offer are designed to not only teach the skills required for performance, but also to enhance each student’s self-esteem, public speaking skills, and self-confidence. By participating in the performing arts, students become in tune with their mind and body.

As 2016 comes to a close, we’ll share stories of winter holidays. From celebrating winter itself, to Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve, we will read stories and bring them to life as we share what we celebrate. Come join us for music, movement and stories galore!
Props! Props! Props! – How do we use props to help express a character or to help us tell a story? Continuing with our fundamental introduction to acting, this session will include loads of using our imagination, and all sorts of props.
Do you love winter? Want to tell a story about it—or better yet create a play from it? Through improvisation and theatre games we will become the characters of winter, and find out what happens when they meet each other.
Explore characters from plays written for young performers by learning what it is to do a cold reading and make strong choices on the spot. This week will include working with selected scenes as well as including improvisation and theatre games.
Love the spotlight? Have you always wanted a speech all to yourself? This is your chance to shine. We’ll work on a variety of monologues written for young actors. Whether you bring in a monologue you’ve always wanted to do or choose one from the selections in class, we will begin the process of what it takes to deliver an honest and engaging monologue.
Winter-themed improvisation and trying out your cold reading skills as we play with scenes from plays based around the holidays: The Gift of Winter, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, A Christmas Carol, and more!
